About the DAX
The DAX (abbr. for Deutscher Aktienindex) is a stock market index consisting of Germany’s 40 biggest blue chips (based on free float market capitalization and trading volume) listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. DAX companies are trading in a variety of industries like sportswear, financial services, basic materials, automotive, online food ordering, industrials, communications, real estate, utilities, technology and consumer goods. The list of DAX components changes over time as current components are to be replaced due to inadequate market capitalization or other exclusion criteria (e.g. Wirecard replaced by Delivery Hero forced by the new insolvency rule). The DAX is distinguished as the most frequently quoted performance index (including dividends) and as a price index (excluding dividends).
